John Lowell Simons, 73, of Millford, formerly of Hampton, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2003, at his home in Milford.

He was born on May 6, 1929, in Hampton, to Guy and Eva (Rhode) Simons. John married Helen Sondegaard on December 26, 1951, in Hampton. Helen passed away November 25, 1976.

John graduated from Hampton High School, before enlisting in the United States Army. He always enjoyed farming. John was a member of the American Legion in Hampton, St. John's Lutheran Church in Coulter and a vital part of the Dinner Date. He enjoyed playing cards, cribbage, and spending time with his grandchildren.

John is survived by his three daughters, Christy Burmester, and her husband, Jim, of Dumont, Katheen Dana, and her husband. Jon, of Milford, and Jacqueline Lam, and her husband Wayne, of Monmoth, Illinios; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; a sister, Roselyn Symens; and brother, Newman Simons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Eva; his wife, Helen; a son, Kevin; a sister, Delores; and two brothers, Arvon and Larry.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 A.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Hampton, IA with Rev. Mary Peterson officiating. Milllitary services will be provided by The Dumont American Legion Post #360.
