Popular Coulter Man Summoned Saturday
N.R. Christensen Died After a Brief IllnessCoulter, Iowa, Dec. 7-- N.R. Christensen, prominent Coulter business man and active citezen, died suddenly at his home last Saturday afternoon about 4:30 o'clock, following a heart attack. While he had not been in the best of health for some time, he had only been confined to his home a few days at the time of his death.
He was a resident of Coulter from the time the town was astablished in 1901, and had always been one of its most active and prominent citezens. He served as mayor of the town several times, was a member of the board of education of the Coulter school district, and was active in all other civic affairs, and in the affairs of the Lutheran Church, of which he was a loyal member. He had a wide legion of freinds who hear of death with deep regret.
Mr. Christensen was born in Denmark, and came to America in 1892, located first at Atlantic, where a brother resided. Later moved to Latimer, where they engaged in the merchantile business and then moved to the town of Coulter in 1901, where he has since resided.
He was united in marraige in 1903 to Miss Petrea Nelson, who passed away following the birth of a son. In 1907 he was united in marraige to Miss Ulrikke Knudsen, and she with four sons is left to survive. The sons are Nels C. Christensen and Norman Christensen of Pittsburg, California; Robert Christensen, of Bellefountaine, Ohio; and Donald Christensen, who has been associated with his father in the merchantile business at Coulter.
Funeral services this afternoon
Funeral services for Mr. Christensen will be held this afternoon at 2:00 from the Danish Lutheran church, at Coulter, conducted by Rev. H.C. Jorgensen, of Blair, Nebraska, for many years pastor of the church at Coulter.Hampton Chronicle Dec. 7, 1939
