He was in town Saturday and Sunday afternoon with his family and appeared in his usual good health. About 10 o'clock Sunday evening he began to feel sick and it was necessary for him to be helped into his bed. Neighbors and a physician were called and after an examination a severe case of apoplexy was found. At about 2:45 he passed away without regaining consciousness since he was first stricken. Mr. Tool was one of our most prosperous farmers and was just completing a modern county home. His wife, a daughter of Mrs. Mary Young, of this place, is prostrate with grief and Lester, the only child is heartbroken over the sudden death of his father. Mr. Tool came to Iowa from El Paso, IL nearly 13 years ago and located on the old C E Wilhelm farm which was purchased , ????. Later he sold that farm and purchased the one which he owned at the time of his death. Mr. Tool was about 44 years old. He will be greatly missed in the community as his friends are numbered by his acquaintances. Jesse Floyd Tool was born on Sep 2, 1871 and died Dec 14, 1914, at the age of 48 years, 3 months and 12 days. He spent his boyhood days in Green Township, Woodford CO., IL. At the age of twenty-three he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Younge, of Roanoke, Woodford CO., IL. To this union was born one son, Lester Elmer. Besides his wife and son, he leaves to mourn his untimely death, his father and mother and five brothers, Edward, LeRoy, Ollie, Pearl and Ray. The deceased was a kind, loving husband and father and the best of neighbors, ever thoughtful of the comforts of others. To know him was to be his friend. He was very successful in business and although he was a member of no church, he practiced faithfully the principles taught us by the Son of Man. A large crowd of sympathetic friends gathered at the home last Friday afternoon, Dec 18th and then followed the remains to its last resting place in the Hillside cemetery. Many magnificent floral tributes covered the casket during the services conducted by Rev E M Cathcart, Pastor of the M E Church at Thornton. Those who attended from away were Joe Tool, El Paso, IL, father of the deceased; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Helmholz and Walter Schroeder, of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Ryland Capron of Eureka, IL, Mr. and Mrs. Pearl D Tool, of El Paso, IL, Jake Younge, of Peoria, IL, and Henry Younge, of Spring Valley, Minn.
