Funeral services with the local pastor, Rev. E.J. Cass, in charge, were held on Wednesday afternoon, December 27th, at 2:00 o'clock, at the Popejoy Methodist church for Melvin Alverson, who passed away early Sunday morning, December 24th, at his home north of Popejoy. Burial was in Iowa Falls.

Melvin Alverson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Alverson, was born on a farm in Oakland township, Franklin county, on August 18, 1896. He moved with his parents to Popejoy when a small boy where he attended school and grew to manhood.

He was baptized in the Lutheran church and later while as a youth he joined the Congregational church which was in Popejoy.

On December 29, 1926, he was married to Miss Mabel Jackson.

His entire life was lived in Oakland township with the exception of a few months when he worked in Iowa Falls.

He leaves to mourn his departure, besides his widow, one son, Orville Alverson; one grandson, Hugh Alverson; his parents; five sisters, Mrs. Agnes Ellingson, Mrs. Mabel Hastings, of Los Altos, California, Mrs. Ella Sharar, Mrs. Gladys Hurd, of Popejoy, Mrs. Merna Ingebritson, of Alden; and one brother, Marvin Alverson, of Iowa Falls; several cousins and nieces and nephews.
