Hampton, Iowa, Oct. 17 - Death claimed another old resident of this vicinity Thursday morning, and John Atkinson answered the last call. He had been in poor health, but it was not realized that the end was so near.

Deceased was born in South Shields, England, April 29, 1832. With his parents he came to this county and to Hazel Green, Wis., and was one of the 49ers who went west and stayed some fifteen years.

He was married to Miss Anna L. Roberts at Hazel Green, April 29, 1869, and she with four sons and one daughter survive him. Soon after his marriage they moved to this county, and the family home has been here continuously.
