Mrs. John H. Philpott died at her home in Hampton last Monday afternoon December 17 at one o'clock after a brief illness from pneumonia. Funeral services will be held at the Baptist church this Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock conducted by the pastor, Rev. C.E. Strong, and the burial will be made in the Hampton cemetery.
Mrs. Philpott, whose maiden name was Ella Marie Froning, was born March 3, 1861 in Stephenson county near Freeport, Illinois where she made her home till 1880 when she and her family moved to Franklin county Iowa with her parents and settled on a farm near Maysville.
She was married to John H. Philpott near Maysville on July 10 1882 & they moved to Iowa Falls where they resided for 7 years, then returning to Franklin county and finally to Hampton which has since been their home.
The deceased united in the Baptist church at Iowa falls in 1885 and in 1892 she transferred her membership to the Hampton church of which she had since been an ardent supporter. She was a kindly women who carried out the teachings of Christianity in her daily life and exemplified the golden rule in her thoughtfulness of others.
Besides her husband Mrs. Philpott is survived by two daughters Mrs. Mae Jones of Hampton and Mrs. Charles F. Jackson of Sheffield and by 5 sons Fred and Heike Philpott of Hampton; F. J. Philpott and A.E. Philpott of Chapin and Elmer Philpott of Sheffield. She is also survived by 2 sisters Mrs. H.A. Rust of Sheffield and Mrs C.A. Ross of Riverside, California and by one brother E.F. Froning.
