Chester C. Yelland, owner and publisher of the former Arcadia Bulletin, died Sunday.

A resident of Arcadia for the past 30 years, Mr. Yelland was born in Sheffield, Iowa. He came to California in the early 1930's and published the Florence Messenger in the Huntington Park area. He bought the Arcadia Bulletin from Frank Roush in the late 1930's and in the spring of 1942 sold the weekly newspaper to F. Harold Roach, publisher of the Arcadia Tribune.

He was Past Master of the Sheffield Masonic Lodge in Sheffield, Iowa.

Mr. Yelland is survived by his wife Fleta M. and his daughter, Betsy Y. Welch of Arcadia. He also leaves a brother, Oliver Yelland Sr. of Sheffield and a sister, Florence Cathcart of La Mesa.

Services were held at 8 p.m. in the chapel of Glasser and Miller Mortuary, with the Rev. W. Stanley Courtney of Arcadia Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be in Sheffield.
