Hampton Man Served 28 Months in Union Armies
Hampton, Dec. 4 - George Autry was born at Huntsville, Ala., on Aug. 19, 1845. When 16 years old he enlisted in Company H, Thirty-second Iowa and served 28 months.
He came to Iowa in 1866 and was married on July 3, 1866, to Miss Sevina Craighton, who died four years ago.
Mr. Autry was in the battle of Shiloh, but came thru unscathed.
He has five children, Mrs. Ella Mosher, Lloyd Autry, Lewis Autry, Fred Autry, all of Hampton and James Autry, Waterloo. A son, William Autry, World war veteran, died a year ago.
