It looks like he had no children.

On May 18, 1949, he was living at 212-1/2 S. Clinton Street in Iowa City. When his father died in July, 1950, he was in Cedar Rapids, and when his mother died in 1969, her obituary stated that she had lived with her son since 1951. Neither obituary for his parents lists a wife or grandchildren.

"Survivors include his widow, Charles City and a son, William Cummings, Cedar Rapids."
