John Burns found on 1880 census b. 1823 (familysearch.org)

Found on 1885 Census b 1823

Found on soundex to Naturalization petitions and reference to Floyd district court record dated 5 Dec 1867. Original records are filmed or available in Floyd Co. An original petition for citezenshipo may reveal parents names but not necessarily.

WPA Burials has John Burns b. 9 Mar 1819 died 31 Jan 1894 in Calvary Cemetary, Floyd Co.

T see if this is your man, I would check court records, cemetery records, death record, probate records, newspaper for obits or death notice.

County histories may reveal something about where in Ireland he came from but parentage would be lucky.

If he were Catholic, a diocese for this area could have records proving his baptism and that of his children.

good luck
