Hi,

Your query caught my eye. I think the 1885 South Dakota Census(Ancestry.com) verifies that Samuel C. Purdy in Faulks Co., S.D. is the same person as Samuel C. Purdy of Floyd Co, husband of Fanny and father of Stacy. Furthermore, Stacy was a civil war vet who died one day after discharge in 1864(Ancestry) and whose father Samuel C. Purdy applied for and received a civil war pension on his behalf. You may wish to order the pension application as it may provide critical information you are seeking.

I am not a relative but I am interested in the back and forth migration from Iowa to the dakotas and return.

Write if you wish more info how to get the file.
