Confirmation of Birth

According to the family bible and obituaries from the Hampton, Iowa Newspaper, my grandfather, Alonzo Raymond Denton was born in Charles City on October 9, 1871. His parents, Arena and Fountain Armstrong Denton, moved to Charles City in 1865 and lived there through 1889. Fountain was a carpenter and builder. I am looking for confirmation of this information through birth, census, newspaper, or church records. Can you give me any idea where to verify this information in Floyd County?
