MASON CITY, IOWA - Merle Keith Kingsbury, 75, of Mason City died Tuesday (Nov. 30, 1999) at the Heritage Care Center, Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, with the Rev. David Anderson of St. James Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hogan Bremer Chapel and will continue until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home.

Merle K. Kingsbury was born Jan. 28, 1924, in Rudd, son of Glen and Violet (Henderson) Kingsbury. He was married to Alvina Mix on Sept. 7, 1946, in Luverne, Minn. Merle grew up and attended schools in Rudd. He joined the Navy when he was 17 serving in WWII aboard the USS John Rogers. He drove truck and worked for Conoco Station for many years.

Merle loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing and bowling. Survivors include his wife, Alvina Kingsbury; two daughters, Linda Whipple and her husband, Bruce, and Mickey Peterson and her husband, Roger; three grandchildren, Bryan Whipple, Amy McMurray and Holly Peterson; four great-grandchildren, Dustin, Dalton, Savana and Sierra, all of Mason City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gail, and two grandchildren, Nicole and Jason Peterson. Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, (515) 423-2372.
