Darrow Gates Died Suddenly

Darrow Gates, 60, passed away suddently at 9:00 o'clock a.m. November 3 at his home in Marble Rock. He was born August 25, 1897, on a farm near Greene, the son of Henry and Emma Reams Gates. He was united in marriage to Ellen Melugin. He was a member of the Christian Church and The Masonic Lodge. As a young man he farmed with his father near Greene and was mail messenger at Marble Rock for about 20 years.

Surviving are his wife, a son, Donald Blaine Gates, 3 brothers Lloyd of Nashua, Guy of Waverly and Bernard of Mason City, 1 sister, Mrs. Margaret Majewski of Greene, a half brother, Roy of Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 o'clock p.m. at Hamilton's Funeral in Marble Rock with Rev. John Falconer officiating. Burial will be held in West Side Cemetery.
