Dick Kupker, 72, of Nora Springs, Died

Funeral services for Dick Kupker, 72, of Nora Springs were held Thursday at the Methodist church in Nora Springs. The Rev. H. A. Smidt, pastor of Eden Presbyterian church, was in charge of the service. Burial was at the Eden Presbyterian cemetery.

Mr. Kupker died December 27, 1966, at Mercy hospital in Mason City, where he had been a patient since June 15.

Dick S. Kupker was born December 20, 1893, near Secor, Illinois, the son of George and Nelka Balster Kupker. At an early age he moved with his parents to Iowa and lived in the Rudd and Nora Springs areas.

Mr. Kupker attended Cedar Valley seminary in Osage, was engaged in farming, was employed as tankman for Standard Oil, and was a car salesman. Since 1952 he served as field representative for an insurance company.

He was a lifelong member of Eden Presbyterian church, served the church in many capacities, was an a active elder at the time of illness and served as a member of the ministerial committee of the North Central Presbytery. He was active in many community affairs including serving on the Floyd county board of education, town council and library board. He was a charter member of the Kiwanis club of Nora Springs.

He was married to Irene Swedberg, on August 18, 1937. They have one daughter, Mary -- Mrs. Larry Dodd. They survive as do one grandson; a sister, Mrs. Tille Apel of Charles City; and three brothers: Harm and Bernard of Charles City, and Henry of Minneapolis.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Adolph, Menno, and George.
