Mary Ann Brownell
Mary Ann Brownell was born in Gallopolis, Ohio, March 20, 1838. At the age of fourteen years the family came west, settling at Nashua, remaining here a few years, then moving to a farm in Riverton, near Powersville. She was married to Eli Brownell in 1860, and they settled on a farm near Powersville where they lived until about 1872 when they moved to Charles City and resided there until 1901 when she moved to St. Paul where she resided until her death.
Three children were born to this union, Helen, Ida and Ras, two of whom with her grandson, James Potts and wife, were with her when she died on Wednesday, March 3 1922.
