Samuel C. Ransom Passes Away at
Mason City

Mason City, Ia., April 5.-Special- Samuel C. Ransom, familiarly known as Court Ransom, died in this city last night at the age of seventy-four years. He was among the early settlers of this city, locating here right after the war and had been a continuous resident since. In 1862 he entered the Union Army as a member of Co. D. 150 Pennsylvania (Bucktail) Volunteers, and was mustered out at the close of the war. He was in all of the great battles of the Potomac at Chancellorsville. Gettysburg, the three days’ battle of the Wilderness, and while he was wounded twice at Gettysburg they were not severe enough to keep him from active duty long. Burial will be at Rockford, Iowa.
