Beverly “Bev” Copper, 93, of Charles City, Iowa, passed away Monday, November 5, 2018 at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.
A funeral Mass for Bev Copper will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City with Reverend Gary Mayer celebrating the Mass. Inurnment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City.
A gathering of family and friends will be at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 12, 2018 with a Scripture Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral Mass at the church on Tuesday.
Beverly Ann Valeske, the daughter of Carl and Edna (Swant) Valeske, was born on April 11, 1925. She attended school in Colwell and graduated in 1943. On February 22, 1944 Bev was united in marriage to Jerald “Jerry” Copper at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City.
Bev was a secretary for 34 years in the Charles City schools. Her other full time job was being a dedicated farm wife and took pride in helping on the farm. Bev was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and one of the church’s women’s circles. She enjoyed tending to her vegetable and flower gardens.
Living family members include her children: Nance (Denny) Hoeft of Carmel, California and Bruce (Colleen) Copper of Charles City; grandchildren: Tammy (Len) Renfer, Brent (Amanda) Hoeft, Reagan (Kevin) Copper and Nick (Yvonne) Copper; 11 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Yvonne Regel of Charles City and Joan Courneen of Santa Cruz, California; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry on May 13, 2017; sister, Arlene Dawley; and brother in infancy, Galen.
