Lola M. Paulus, 87, of Charles City, passed away Friday, June 29, 2018 at the Nora Springs Care Center.

A funeral Mass for Lola Paulus will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Roseville with Monsignor Walter Brunkan officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Rockford, Iowa.

Visitation will be at Hauser Funeral Home Monday, July 2, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and will continue one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday.

Lola Mae (Worley) Paulus, the daughter of Clarence and Minnie (Weigand) Worley, was born July 4, 1930 in Dougherty, Iowa. She received her education in country schools and in Rockwell, graduating from Rockwell High School in 1948.

Lola was united in marriage to Robert William Paulus on February 28, 1949 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Rockford. The couple made their home in Rockford until moving to Charles City in 1995.

Lola worked as a seamstress at Mode-O-Day in Mason City for 15 years, at Buy-Low in Rockford and she co-owned Tom's Sportsmans Lounge in Rudd. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Roseville. Lola enjoyed sewing, gardening, taking motorcycle rides, traveling (especially to the Mississippi River) and spending time with her family.

Living family members include her four daughters: Jeannette (Gary) Schmitt of Rockwell, Jacque (John) Moffitt of Dysart, Laurie (Gary) O'Connor of Rockford and Bobbi (Dan) Parcher of Marble Rock; five sons: Alvin (Marlene) Paulus of Chillicothe, Missouri, Patrick (Cathy) Paulus of Dothan, Alabama, Michael Paulus (Laura McNany) of Harrisburg, North Carolina, Tom (Nancy) Paulus of Letts and Jerry (Lisa) Paulus of Rudd; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Mary Lou (Loren) Levenhagen of Clear Lake and Kay Schaefer of Mason City; brother, Bill (Jackie) Worley of Greene; along with several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Lola was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; two sisters: Geri Winfield and Dorothy Paulus; and brother, Harold Worley.
