Nora Springs Advertiser January 6, 1938

Moses Augustus Tatum third in a family of ten children born to Moses J. and Ruth Ann Morphew Tatum entered this life on Oct. 24, 1861 on a farm North of Nora Springs.

He grew to manhood and on Dec. 26, 1881 was united in marriage to Minnie Tatum. They began home keeping on the old home place where they farmed for two years.
Ocheydan then became their home continuing until about 1911, when they returned.

To this union two daughters were born, Mabel who died in infancy and Leola, now Mrs Harvey Hoblit.

Immediately after the daughters' death the sorrowing parents decided to adopt a daughter and secured from a Council Bluffs childrens home, Mildred who grew from infancy as their very own.

Their hearts were gladdened later by the birth of Leola.

Mrs Tatum passed away Aug. 30, 1912.

The tragic accident of last Thursday afternoon left Mrs Hoblit as the only survivor of the family.

There remains four granddaughters: Frances, Irma, Ona and Ida Mae Hoblit, two sisters, Mrs Margaret Eggers and Mrs Ella Ayers, both of Rockford and one brother Fred of Nora Springs.
One sister and five brothers with the parents preceded him in death.

Mildren Tatum was born Bessie Mildred Harlowe Mar. 19, 1894. She was placed in a Childrens Home in Council Bluffs when she was three weeks old, after the death of her mother.

(Buried in Reed Cemetery).
