NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - William H. Koppen, 77, of Nora Springs died Friday, March 23, 2018, at the Muse Norris Inpatient Unit, Hospice of North Iowa, in Mason City, Iowa.

A funeral service for William will be held 10:30am, Tuesday, (March 27, 2018) at the United Methodist Church, 202 N. Hawkeye, Nora Springs, with Reverend Jim Roth officiating. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Nora Springs.

Visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Monday, (March 26, 2018) at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye, Nora Springs, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

William H. Koppen was born on June 22, 1940, the son of Clarence and Phyllis (Rheingens) Koppen in Mason City. He graduated from Nora Springs high school in 1959, before enlisting in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1963.

Bill married Jerrie Grandy on October 25, 1963, and to this union four children were born.

He worked for the City of Nora Springs, and various construction companies throughout his career, retiring in 2006 from Allied Construction.

After retirement, Bill enjoyed going on daily drives with his dog, attending his grandchildren's athletic events. He loved spending time with his family and giving valuable advice to his grandchildren. Bill was an avid Hawkeye and Gladbrook-Reinbeck Rebel fan, he liked to garden, and can what he grew.

William is survived by his wife, Jerrie Koppen, Nora Springs; his children, Randy (Sandy) Koppen, Redwood Falls, MN, Tammy (Wayne) Prazak, Nora Springs, Julie (Chad) McKee, Hutchison, MN, and Jill (Bret) Lauterbach, Reinbeck, IA; grandchildren, Barry (Megan) Koppen, Abby Koppen, Rory (Jen) Prazak, Madelin McKee, Carsten McKee, Kyle Koppen, and Lohgan Lauterbach; four great-grandchildren; his brother, Clarence (Shirley) Koppen Jr.; his sister, Katherine (Steve) Brodersen, and his dog, BJ; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Sandra Kruger, and his mother and father-in-law, Virgil and Lillian Grandy.
