Greene, Iowa - Funeral services for Marlys Nixt, 76, of Greene, will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Walter Brunkan officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Monday, September 11, at Retz Funeral Home, 519 N. First St. Greene.

Marlys was born on March 9, 1941, in Greene, Iowa, the daughter of William and Mildred (Rover) Steere Jr. and died on Thursday, September 7, 2017, at the Chautauqua Guest Home #2 in Charles City, Iowa.

Marlys was united in marriage to James Nixt on April 27, 1973, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greene. This union was blessed with four children: Amy, Anthony, Becky, and Mark.

Living family members include her husband, James Nixt of Greene; four children: Amy (Darren) Wiegand, Anthony (DeAnn) Nixt, Becky Anderson and Mark Nixt; four grandchildren; three sisters; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
