Obituary of George Clifford Smith Jr.

George Clifford Smith Jr. 58 years, at his residence of Mackinaw, Illinois, died 28 SEP 2014, in his sleep. Haensel Funeral Home of Mackinaw is in charge of funeral arrangements

Services for George Clifford Smith Jr. will be held at Haensel Funeral Home, Mackinaw, Illinois, on 2 October 2014, with Pastor Josh Truebold officiating.

Visitation for George Clifford Smith Jr. will be held 1 October 2014 at Haensel Funeral Home of Mackinaw, Illinois.

George Clifford Smith Jr. was born July 6, 1956, in Heidelberg, Germany. He is the son of Betty Mae Vorhes-Smith and Earl Louis Smith, who preceded him in death. Out of George Clifford Smith Jr.'s first marriage to Linda Sue Wyant they had two children: George Clifford Smith III, and Robert Lee Smith (aka Zeth Kovein). Out of George Clifford Smith Jr.'s second marriage, to Nancy Louise (Ostenford, Hemes) on 22 December 1978 in Nashua, Iowa, they had three children: Laci Hawanchak and husband Dustin, and their sons Jordan and Jared of Troy, Ohio; Cody Smith and his sons, Jayson and Hunter of Bloomington, Illinois; and Justin Smith and wife Amy, of Peoria, Illinois.

Living family members include:
His current wife, Nancy Louise (Ostendorf, Hemes).
His sons from his first marriage to Linda Sue Wyant:
1. George Clifford Smith III, wife and four sons: Chase Gibson-Smith, Gauge Gibson-Smith, Brylan Gibson-Smith and Xzaver Smith, plus five other children.
2. Robert Lee Smith (aka Zeth Kovein) and his three children.
His children from his second marriage, to Nancy Louise (Ostendorf, Hemes):
3. Justin Smith and wife Amy.
4. Cody Smith and his two sons, Jayson and Hunter.
5. Laci Smith-Hawanchak, husband and two sons, Jordan and Jared.
His brother Doyle Eugene Smith of Belmond, Iowa, and his two sons:
1. James Smith, wife, Tammi and their two children, Bailee and Collin.
2. Joseph Smith, wife Amy and their two dhildren, Alexis and Kasey.
His sister Brenda Smith-Jutting of Newton, Iowa, and her two sons:
1. Calvin T. Jutting and son Landon.
2. Brock A. Jutting.
His sister, Shirley A. Smith of Hampton, Iowa.
His aunt Donna Vorhes-Crooks of Charles City, Iowa
His uncle Harry and wife Mary; Harry preceded George in death.
His aunt Alice and uncle Marvin Lamb, aunt Sharon and uncle Richard Frascht, aunt Linda Nelson, aunt Marie and uncle Gary Peer, and aunt Judy and uncle Ted Pitzenberger.

George Clifford Smith Jr. is survived by several other family members consisting of sisters/brothers-in-law's aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. George Clifford Smith Jr. has five children and 16 grandchildren.

George Clifford Smith Jr. was an Army Veteran. While living in Bristow, Iowa, he was a member of the city council, a member of the First Reformed Church, a member of the fire department and was a first responder. When George Clifford Smith Jr. moved to Mackinaw, Illinois, he worked for Pine Lakes Golf Course in Washington, Illinois. The last eight years he worked for Sun AG Supply.
