Betty Mae Vorhes-Smith, 69 years old, a resident of 402 1st Ave. S.W., Hampton, Iowa, died 7 SEP 2005 at West Campus, Mason City, Iowa.

Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home of Hampton in charge of funeral arrangements. Services for Betty Mae Vorhes-Smith will be held at the First Congregational Church, Hampton, Iowa, 10 SEP 2005, at 10:00 AM with burial at West Side Cemetery, Marble Rock, Iowa.

Visitation for Betty Mae Vorhes-Smith will be on 9 SEP 2005 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton, Iowa, and one hour before funeral services.

Betty Mae Vorhes-Smith was born March 3, 1936 at her grandparents home, George Ackley and Dora Thiemann-Ackley in Marble Rock, Iowa. She is the daughter of Doyle Edgar Vorhes and Lorraine Veonne Ackley-Vorhes-Ripley. On May 17, 1953, she was united in marriage to Earl Louis Smith, son of George Clifford Smith and Hennrietta Alice Fink-Smith at Greene, Iowa. Out of this union they had four children: Shirley A. Smith of Hampton, Iowa, George C. Smith Jr. of Mackinaw, Illinois, Doyle E. Smith of Belmond, Iowa, Brenda L. Smith-Jutting of Newton, Iowa.

Living family members include:
Her husband, Earl L. Smith.
Her daugher Shirley A. Smith.
Her son George C. Smith Jr., wife Nancy, and their five children:
1. George C. Smith III and his four sons: Chase Gibson-Smith, Gaugie Gibson-Smith, Bryian Gibson-Smith, and Xzaver Smith.
2. Robert Smith.
3. Justin Smith, and wife Holly.
4. Laci Smith-Hawanchak, husband Dustin and their son Jordan Hawanchak.
5. Cody Smith
Her son, Doyle E. Smith and his two sons:
1. James Smith and wife Tammi, and their two children, Bailee Smith and Collin Smith.
2. Joseph Smith and wife Amy and their daughter Alexis Smith.
Her daughter, Brenda L. Smith-Jutting and husband Curtis Jutting and their two sons:
1. Calvn T. Jutting and Kayla, with son Landon.
2.Brock A. Jutting.
A sister, Donna R. Vorhes-Crooks of Charles City, Iowa. Several other family members consisting of uncles, aunts, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Betty M. Vorhes-Smith had four children, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Doyle Edgar Vorhes, Lorraine Veonne Ackley-Vorhes-Ripley, step-father Max Ripley, her mother and father-in-law George Clifford (G.C.) Smith and Henrietta Alice Fink-Smith, one brother, Dean (Pete) Vorhes and one sister, Patricia (Pat) Vorhes-Barnes.

She will be missed by both family and friends.

Pallbearers are grandchildren: James D. Smith, Joseph E. Smith, Justin Smith, Cody Smith, Calvin T. Jutting, and Brock A. Jutting. Honorary pallbearers are George C. Smith III, and Robert L. Smith.
