CHARLES CITYAN, DIES

Charles City -- Funeral services for Edwin F. (Ned) Townsend, 70, were held Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at the Hauser Funeral Home, the Rev. James K. Delahooke, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial in Riverside cemetery with the Masonic Lodge in charge.

Mr. Townsend died Saturday in New York City where he had made his home for 33 years. The body arrived here Wednesday morning.

Mr. Townsend lived in Charles City prior to going to New York. While here he operated a photographic studio in the location now occupied by the Bugenhagen Studio. In New York his studio attracted outstanding persons of the theater and music fields, including Geraldine Farrar.
