Henry Braend was born in Lake Mills, Wisconsin, Aug 23, 1858 and died on his birthday at the age of 75. In 1880 he came to Flood Creek and during the pastorate of Rev. Fer. Fisher joined the Flood Creek M. E. church. About 34 years ago he moved to his present farm on South Main Street, having lived there all these years. At this time he joined the Central M. E. church.

While his physical condition permitted, he was a regular attendant upon the means of grace. In his contacts with his fellowmen he was honest, considerate of the rights of others, and sought to live up to his convictions and his religion. He loved the church and the ministers were welcome at his home.

In 1880, on May 7, he was married to Miss Minnie Krueger. To this union two sons were born, Irving and Clarence.

He leaves to mourn his demise, besides his sons, his sorrowing widow, one grandson, one brother, William of Charles City, two sisters, Mrs. Otto and Mrs. Adolph Herbrechtsmeyer, of Charles City, besides a goodly number of relatives and friends.

The Hauser Funeral Home was in charge and the pastor, W. F. Belling officiated. A mixed quartet sang two selections. The text was taken for II Timothy 1, 12.

Interment was made in Riverside cemetery.
