Frank A. Birkholz was born on the 25th day of June in the year 1872 at Milwaukee, Wisconsin and soon after his birth he was baptized in the name of the Triune God. When he was yet an infant his family moved to Iowa and located in St. Charles Township, Floyd County. Here he spent the years of his boyhood and after he had been instructed in the doctrines of the word of God and the duties of the Christian life, he was confirmed on April 3, 1887.
Thereafter he was occupied on his father’s farm until the day of his marriage. On March 4, 1896 he was married to Augusta Mews and for more than 22 years they lived an ideal home life. Only one child was born to this union, and the child died soon after its birth. After his marriage he removed to a farm in Ulster Township, where he remained until about two years ago. Since that time he had lived on Cedar Street, occupying himself where he was most needed. Recently he worked in the Farmers Elevator.
True to his confirmation vows, Mr. Birkholz remained a member of his church and was active in the performance of the duties of church membership, being a frequent attendant at the services and at the Lord’s table.
Mr. Birkholz had always been a strong healthy man with a rugged constitution. Once he submitted to an operation for appendicitis, but otherwise he was free from any ailment. The more do we deplore his untimely death. On last Friday, June 28th, while he was returning to his accustomed work the accident happened which brought about his untimely end on last Sunday, June 30th. He arrived at the age of 46 years and 2 days.
He is survived by his stricken widow, his sorrowing father Willam Birkholz, 2 brothers – Fred of Grand Forks, North Dakota and Herman of St. Charles Township and 3 sisters, Mrs. Lena Johnson of Riverton Township, Mrs. Anna Hartz of Minneapolis and Mrs. Lydia Voelker of Charles City.
May he rest in Peace.

Note: Details of the fatal accident are described in Frank A. Birkholz Find a Grave Memorial.
