Funeral arrangements are pending at the Sheckler Colonial Chapel, Nora Springs.

Obituary for Allan Robert Cerwinske

Allan Robert Cerwinske, 72, Rockford, died Friday, May 12, 2017, at his home.

A visitation and sharing of memories will be held from 1:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at the Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 North Hawkeye, Nora Springs. There will be a private family inurnment at the Riverside Cemetery in Rockford with Reverend Jim Roth of the Rudd United Methodist Church officiating. There will also be military honors conducted by members of the Nora Springs American Legion Post H.D.S. 449.

Allan Robert Cerwinske was born on February 11, 1945, in Charles City, the son of Robert and Dorothy (Boone) Cerwinske.

Allan received his education in the Rockford Community Schools, graduating from Rockford High School. Allan served his country honorably and faithfully in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam Conflict.

Allan farmed for 50 years south of Rudd until his retirement from farming in 2010. Allan also drove transport truck for H&M Transport in Rudd for a few years.

He was united in marriage to Nancy Thomsen on November 25, 1967, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, and to this marriage three daughters were born, Laurel, Lyndy and Tara.

Allan enjoyed having coffee and talking with his many friends, playing cards, loved farming and his cattle and watching his newborn calves, planting his crops, playing softball and baseball, and he was a big animal lover, taking in any stray dogs that showed up at his place, but his greatest love and enjoyment was his family and grandchildren.

He was a member of the Rudd United Methodist Church and the Rudd American Legion.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Laurel (Jon) Skinner of Carl Junction, MO, and Lyndy (William “BJ’) Bruck of Rockford; his two grandchildren, Miranda Skinner of Carl Junction, MO, and Preston Bruck of Rockford; his sister, Lois (Bob) Carroll of O’Neil, NE; his nephew, Randy (Cindy) O’Connor of Peoria AZ; three nieces, Gwen (Brian) Compton of Billings, MT, Jennifer Abbot of O’Neil, NE, Chris (Chuck) Bergman of Seattle, WA; a sister-in-law, Sharon O’Conner of Peoria, AZ; and a special friend, Marlene Marth of Floyd; as well as other extended family members and friends.

Allan was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Dorothy Cerwinske; his wife, Nancy Cerwinske who died on March 17, 2011; an infant daughter, Tara Cerwinske; and a brother-in-law, Bill O’Connor.
