Guy Cagley, 77, of Charles City passed away Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the Ninth Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

A graveside service for Guy will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City with Father Gary Mayer from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church officiating.

Guy Lowell Cagley was born on August 4, 1939 to Hugh and Faye (Brown) Cagley in Charles City. He attended Charles City Elementary and High School, graduating in 1958. On June 21, 1969 Guy was united in marriage to Jean M. Zubrod in Osage, Iowa.

Guy began work at White Farm in November of 1959 and worked for them until they closed. He then worked for GMT from 1994 to 1999 when he retired. Guy was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Immaculate Conception Church and the Moose Club in Charles City. He enjoyed hunting, especially with his wife's brothers when they would go deer hunting out in Wyoming. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye.

Guy is survived by his wife, Jean Cagley of Charles City; three children: Wendy McGrew of Cedar Rapids, Robert (Som) Cagley of Iowa City, and Nicole Akkad of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren: Zakarya, Jihan, and Addison; brother: John (Dorothy) Cagley of San Antonio, Texas; special friends: Ralph and Jane Hitchcock, Skip and Myrna Ward, Bill Freiberg, Dale and Cheryle Cline; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Faye Cagley; grandson Riley; sister and brother-in-law: Bill and Audrey Best; brother and sister-in-law: Hugh and Louise Cagley; sister and brother-in-law: Maxine and Bob Krinke; niece: Julie; nephews: Jeff and Wes; and mother-in-law and father-in-law: Art and Mary Zubrod.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Guy's memory may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
