Lenore "Beanie" Knutson, 94, formerly of Charles City, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.

A graveside service for Lenore will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2016 at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City with Pastor Jim Beranek from Trinity United Methodist Church in Charles City officiating.

Beanie was born in Pittsville, Wisconsin and moved when she was three to the rural Charles City area. She attended country school in rural Charles City and graduated from CCHS in 1940.

She married Paul "Sniz" Knutson, also of Charles City in 1950. Beanie enjoyed working in payroll at Salisbury Laboratories early in her life, and then retired to be a full time homemaker. She enjoyed working on her class reunion committee and planning the reunions. Her love of driving enabled Beanie to be a blessing to those around her, giving countless rides to neighbors and friends who needed help and also serving with her Trinity's Meals on Wheels ministry.

She loved cats and dogs. She was a loyal friend, having many life-long friendships and keeping up an active correspondence with many friends in other states.

Beanie was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Women's Faith-Grace Circle. She also belonged to the V.F.W. Women's Auxiliary.

Beanie is survived by her daughter: Jolene (Jim) Walker of Kalona and grandchildren: Casey of Greenville, TN, Kara of NYC, Luke (Rachel) of Chicago, Samuel of NYC, and Judah of Iowa City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Sniz, and her daughter Pam.
