Obituary for June Irene Stephens

June Irene Stephens, 89, of Charles City, Iowa, died Monday, August 8, 2016, at Cedar Health.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 am with a one hour prior visitation on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 601 Milwaukee Street, Charles City with Pastor Jim Beranek officiating. Inurnment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

June was born on June 30, 1927, in Sublette, Illinois, to Paul and Stella (Setchell) Auringer. She attended school in Waterloo and Ames, IA and graduated from Ames High School. Shortly after high school she moved to Charles City with her family and became a life long resident. June worked as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell prior to marrying. She was united in marriage to William Webster and they had two daughters, Mary and Penny. After William passed away she was united in marriage to Harold Stephens; who also predeceased her.

June was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. In her free time she enjoyed cooking, sewing, baking, gardening and knitting. June also worked at the Knitting Corner. Her family was very important, especially spending time with her grandchildren. June would attend their birthday parties and various activities. For the holidays she loved cooking and baking for her family. In her later years June liked watching football on TV.

Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Mary (Doug) Peshak of Plymouth, Iowa, and Penny (Steve) Merrill of Charles City; grandchildren: Erica (Josh) Rosendahl, Jim Peshak and Sarah Merrill; and great-grandchildren, Dylan and Caleb Rosendahl.

She was preceded in death by first husband, William Webster; second husband, Harold Stephens; three brothers: Gilbert, Robert and Max Auringer, and by her parents.
