Service: Funeral services for Leona Arndt will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pastor Bill Odermann will officiate. Burial will be at Sunnyside Memory Gardens.

Visitation for Leona will be at Hauser Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday July 18, 2016, and an hour before services at the church

Leona Frances Arndt was born March 26, 1921, in Riceville, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Agnes (Bunston) Milhan. She received her education from rural Howard County schools. On May 1st 1940, she was united in marriage to Carl Arndt. To this union were born four children: Pauline, Paul, Duane, and Dixie. As a couple, Carl and Leona played cards in a card club, were active members at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City and loved watching the Charles City Comet softball games.

Leona was a member of the U.A.W Ladies Auxillary, and the Mary Ladies Circle at Saint Johns. Leona loved cooking and baking for family and friends, always ready to make a delicious comforting meal. She was a big fan of both the Cubs and the Hawkeyes and enjoyed fishing up north, and spending Tuesday afternoons making crafts at the Senior Center.

Living family members include her children: Pauline Kuennen of Lawler, Paul Arndt of Charles City, Duane (Mary Anne) Arndt of Hutchinson, MN, and Dixie Hughes of Charles City; grandchildren: Jodi (Jon) Reeg of Independence, Bobbi Jo (Jason) Alcott of Roseville, MN, William (Audrey) Arndt of Sioux Falls, SD, Stacy Kempf of Shawnee, KS, and Sarah (Levi) Towsley of Greene; 11 great grandchildren; sisters: Esther (Marvin) Shoger of Riceville, and Mary Lou Carnicle of Edgewood; brother-in-law: Keith Marvin, sisters-in-law: Bonnie Milhan and Bernice Walker; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Carl in 2000, brothers: Harold (Bernita) Milhan, and Ralph Milhan; sister: Anna Mae Marvin; brother-in-law: Gary Carnicle; and son-in-law Robert "Ray" Kuennen.
