Obituary for Velma Marie Strange

Velma Marie (Carey) Strange, age 88, formerly of Austin, died Saturday, June 18, 2016 in Fremont, Nebraska, with her loving family by her side.

Heaven has received a beautiful new Angel.

Velma was born June 21, 1927, in Charles City, Iowa.

She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, John T. Strange Sr.; her only son of five children, John T. Strange Jr.; her loving daughters with heavy hearts, Chickie Langerman of Fayette, Iowa, Cosette Vivone of Norwalk, Iowa, Susan Jorgensen of Ankeny, Iowa, and Debbie Shillington of Wendell, North Carolina. Velma's surviving siblings are her only loving brother, David Carey of Minneapolis; loving sisters, Charlene Young of Austin, Minnesota, Mary Winkles of LeRoy, Minnesota, Cela Winjun of Albert Lea, Minnesota, and Rose Mary Price of Rose Creek, Minnesota.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 am on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Jim Steffes officiating. There will be a 4 pm rosary on Friday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4-8 pm and also one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
