Eldon Rademacher, 92, of Floyd, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Cedar Health in Charles City, Iowa.

A funeral service for Eldon Rademacher will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Pastor Martha Bennett from Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd will officiate. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Floyd.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Eldon Otto Rademacher, the son of Edmund and Marie (Tjards) Rademacher, was born November 19, 1923 in Floyd, Iowa. He received his education in Floyd, graduating from Floyd High School in 1941. Eldon helped on the family farm after graduation until he entered into basic training with the United States Army. He was honorably discharged due to the war being over and his father needing help back on the farm.

Eldon was united in marriage to Evelyn Starbuck on August 19, 1945 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple farmed on his parents' farm and later purchased the farm for themselves. They proudly celebrated their 70th Anniversary this past summer and came to be winners of the longest married couple at the annual celebration held at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

Eldon was a member of Farm Bureau, bowled for almost 40 years, gathered to play "500" for 50 years with the couple's card club and loved to travel throughout the United States with Evelyn. He loved farming (planting over 60 years of row crops) and was honored with several awards throughout his farming career including winner of the county corn yield contest in Floyd County and being named Outstanding Young Farmer by Wallaces Farmer Magazine.

Living family members include his wife of 70 years, Evelyn of Floyd; daughter, Dorothy (David) Hellberg of Marshalltown along with their children Matthew (Melissa) Hellberg and Kelli Hellberg; son, Richard (Yvonne) Rademacher of Floyd along with their children Michelle (Devin) Broerman, Jerry (Amber) Rademacher and Rose (Eric) Rottinghaus; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, John Rademacher of Marion; and nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Merton.
