CHARLES CITY — Jerry Stevenson, 78, of Charles City, died Monday, Feb. 8, 2016, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, Texas.

Jerry Stevenson, 78, of Charles City passed away Monday, February 8, 2016 at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, Texas.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City. Pastor Bill Odermann will officiate. Burial will take place at Howard Cemetery in Elma, Iowa.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City with a Moose Pilgrim service starting at 2:00 p.m. The visitation will continue an hour prior to the service on Sunday at the Church.

Jerry Allen Stevenson was born June 28, 1937, in Elma, Iowa to Robert and Mildred (Larsen) Stevenson. His mother passed away when Jerry was ten months old. Jerry was raised by his aunt and uncle, Kenneth and Alice Stevenson. He attended school in Chester, Iowa until his junior year, when he transferred to Lime Springs to play football. Jerry graduated from Lime Springs High School of May 1955. He entered the U.S. Army on July 18, 1955 and was discharged on July 5, 1958 after serving in Germany.

Jerry was united in marriage to Linda Albert to which two children were born, Mark and Laurie. He retired from the Olive/White Farm after a devoted 30 years. After retirement he ran Granny's Kitchen in Charles City. Jerry collected anything that was Oliver Tractor related. He joined the Loyal Order of the Moose on November 16, 1974. Jerry received the Fellowship Degree on May 26, 1987 and the Pilgrim Degree at Mooseheart, Illinois on May 22, 2010. He was united in marriage to Ivadelle Lane Messerlie on November 17, 2004. They spent their winters in Texas.

Living family members include his wife, Ivadelle; son, Mark (Phyllis), daughter, Laurie; two grandchildren: Isabel and Jacob; three step daughters: Karla (Paul) Neir, Karol (Guy) Carpenter, and Kandace Roths; seven step grandchildren; sister, Donna Lidtke of Lime Springs; brother, Dale Stevenson of Post Falls, Idaho; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, foster parents, Kenneth and Alice; and brother, Ronald Stevenson.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests making a donation to charity of donor's choice.
