Edward Converse Hall was born in the village of Champlain, Clinton Co., New York, in the year 1815. While quite young, his parents moved to Isle of Mott, where they lived 5 years. They then removed to St. Lawrence county, New York, and remained there for some time.

Mr. Hall was united in marriage to Samantha Cross in 1841. Two children were born to them, Welia A., now Mrs. John Noble, and Rensselaer, a son, both of whom together with the mother survive, and were present at the funeral.

Mr. Hall moved with his family to Nashua, Iowa, and since 1859 has lived on his farm in Riverton.
He was converted to God in the Fifteenth year of his age and identified himself with the Methodist Episcopal church, of which he continued a faithful and devoted member until his removal to the church triumphant.

His long residance in the community, and his stability of character won for him many friends and much respect, which was strongly indicated by the immense attendance on the occasion of his funeral, held Sunday afternoon, Dec. 2. His sickness was short, but severe, and he breathed his last on Friday p.m., Nov. 30th.

The funeral services were conducted by Dr. Smith of the Methodist Church, and his remains were laid away in Oak Hill Cemetery to await the resurrection morn.
