CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Lorna L. Carey, 92, of Charles City, died Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at the 11th St. Chautauqua Guest Home, Charles City, Iowa.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 1, at the Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton, Iowa. There will be no local visitation.

Obituary for Lorna LaVonne Carey

Lorna L. Carey, 92 of Charles City, died Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home, Charles City, Iowa.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at the Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton, Iowa. There will be no local visitation.

Lorna Lavonne was born on November 28, 1922 in Vinton, Iowa, the daughter of Glair and Myrtle (Goracke) Wynenger. She was raised by her grandmother from 3 days old until she was 10. She moved to Charles City in 1968 and was united in marriage to Frank Carey. He died one and a half years after their marriage. Before moving to Charles City she worked in the food preparation area of the Woodward State Hospital. She continued this work when she moved to Charles City.

Lorana is survivied by her six nieces and nephews.

Her parents, and husband, preceded her in death.
