Gladys Stauffer, 90, of Greene, entered her Lord's presence Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 26, 2015, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Charles City. Pastor Jim Beranek will officiate. Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene, following the lunch at the church.

Visitation will be held at Hauser Funeral Home from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 25, 2015 and will continue one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.

Gladys Christine (Litterer) Stauffer, the daughter of William and Marie (Scheidecker) Litterer, was born on December 6, 1924 in Floyd County. She graduated from Charles City High School in 1942.

Gladys was united in marriage to Lyle Stauffer on September 15, 1944 at the Central Methodist Church in Charles City. She had the heart of a farmer and homemaker. Gladys loved spending time outdoors and helping her husband farm, which they did all of their lives in the Powersville area. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school for many years.

Gladys gathered with many other farm wives, in "Hobby Club", enjoying each other's company for over 50 years. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, cooking, and canning. Gladys was known for her tomato soup specialty. Above all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was an outgoing, kind, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Living family members include her husband of 71 years, Lyle Stauffer of Greene; four children: Gary (Laurie) Stauffer of Sumner, Joni (Chuck) Svendsen of Hampton, Diane (Bob) Jones of Rockford, and Mary (Wayne) Johns of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada; ten grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; brother, Kenneth (Darlene) Litterer of Maquoketa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Elmer Litterer, sister, Alice and brother-in-law, Dale Stauffer, and sister, Edna Franke.
