Raymond DeMar, 93, of Charles City, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City.

A funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. Reverend Gary Mayer will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City.

Visitation will take place an hour prior to the Mass on Tuesday at the church.

Raymond A. DeMar, the son of Frank and Anna (Albrecht) DeMar, was born on August 2, 1922, in Greene. He received his education from St. Mary's Academy in Greene. Raymond entered the Air Force on February 15, 1943. He was stationed in Manila from March 15, 1945, until November 22, 1945. Raymond was honorably discharged from the Air Force on December 26, 1945. He was united in marriage to Ardis Nelson on November 2, 1946, in Austin, Minnesota.

Raymond worked at White Farm for 38 years and retired on June 1, 1983. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, and Knights of Columbus. Raymond was an avid fisherman, hunter, golfer, and on a bowling league. He loved his family and was always at the center of family gatherings.

Living family members include his wife, Ardis of Charles City; two daughters: Vivian (Richard) Immel of Charles City, and Nancy (Henry) Pirhonen of Mason City; son, Raymond (Lyn) DeMar of Lincoln, Nebraska; three grandsons: Chad (Jenna) DeMar, Clint (Kyla) DeMar, and Eric (Leslie) DeMar; six great grandchildren: Sydney, Keaton, Hudson, Nolan, Adelynn, and Cole DeMar; sister, Dorothy Dahm of California.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert Francis; two brothers; six sisters; and one grandson, Michael Immel.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City, 106 Chapel Lane Charles City, Iowa 50616.
