SURVIVED BY ONE SON, SEVEN GRANDCHILDREN AND THREE GREAT-GRANDCHILDRENDougherty, March 10, 1937 – Robert Fletcher died at his home northeast of Dougherty, Tuesday, March 5, at the age of 82 years. He was born in Kenosha County, Wisconsin, February 10, 1855, a son of John and Elizabeth Ann (Smith) Fletcher.
Mr. Fletcher grew to boyhood on his father’s farm in Kenosha County, Wisconsin, and there attended public schools, later continued his education in the common schools of Scott Township, Floyd County, Iowa, where he moved with his parents.
As a young man he farmed with his father but since 1877 had been farming for himself. In 1878 he bought his present farm home in Scott Township, Floyd County.
On February 2, 1879 he was married to Mary O Crumb of Marble Rock. Mrs. Fletcher preceded him in death on April 11, 1911.
Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher were born four children; Helen, John, and Clifford who died in early life, and Lewis, who survives him.
