Grace United Methodist Church, Floyd, Iowa.

Bobby "Bob" Hocking, 85, of Floyd passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

A funeral service for Bob Hocking will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2015 at Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd. Pastor Martha Bennett will officiate. Burial will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Floyd following the service.

Visitation will be held at Hauser Funeral Home from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 2015 and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Bobby Ray Hocking, the son of James and Clara (Lee) Hocking, was born on August 9, 1930 in Longrun, Missouri. He went to school in Tillmuck [SIC, should be Tillamook], Oregon. Bob proudly served his country for four years in the Air Force. He was united in marriage to Alyce Ludvigson on December 10, 1955 in Fontana, California. He worked for White Farm and did maintenance work for Mitchell County Conservation.

Bob was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd. His interests included: fishing, camping, birdwatching, woodworking, flea markets, and repairing bicycles. Bob enjoyed reading, watching westerns, tinkering around, playing Yahtzee, and Spite and Malice. His greatest joys came from his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Living family members include his wife, Alyce of Floyd; four children: Bob (Deb) Hocking of Charles City, Cindy (Tom) Lea of Milan, Minnesota, Tami (David) Knecht of Charles City, and Shellie (Todd) Koenigsfeld of Floyd; 14 grandchildren: Elizabeth, Allison, Emily, Jennifer, Stephanie, Stacey, Tiffany, Nate, Nichole, Dustan, Shane, Brodie, Meghan, and Devon; 17 great grandchildren: Matthew, Joshua, Isabella, Hannah, Caleb, Alex, Sadie, Thor, Sophie, Alyssa, Ben, Trent, Ahron, Martin, Dalten, Dennis, Evee, and one on the way; and one sister, Jan (Glen) Levitt of Bend, Oregon; sisters- in-law: Gini Gearman, Twila (Ordell) Vaala, and Donna Ludvigson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Merle; and two sisters: Irene, and Louise; brothers-in-law: Casper Ludvigson, and Doug Gearman.
