CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Elisabeth "Lisa" Brummel, 81, of Charles City died Thursday, July 23, 2015, at her daughter's home in Algona.

A funeral Mass for Lisa Brummel will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. Monsignor Carl Schmitt will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in rural Charles City.

A visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 27, at Hauser Funeral Home, and will continue one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Tuesday.

Hauser Funeral Home, 641-228-2323, Charles City, is in charge of arrangements.

Elisabeth "Lisa" Brummel, 81, of Charles City, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2015, at her daughter's home in Algona, Iowa.

A funeral Mass for Lisa Brummel will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. Monsignor Carl Schmitt will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in rural Charles City.

A visitation will be at Hauser Funeral Home Monday, July 27, 2015, from 5 to 7:00 p.m. and will continue one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Tuesday.

Elisabeth (Lindemann) Brummel, the daughter of Heinrich and Maria (Rössing) Lindemann, was born June 5, 1934, in Herzebrock, Germany. As a child, World War II was occurring from the time she was six until she was twelve. Lisa attended school until the age of twelve and then went to trade school learning how to cook and bake.

She worked at a furniture factory, sewing factory and bakery, all in Germany. Lisa was united in marriage to Theodore Brummel on June 12, 1954, in Herzebrock, Germany. The couple traveled to America on the MS Berlin Ship and arrived in New York at Ellis Island on December 8, 1955. They continued their journey to Iowa, living in Waverly, then moving to Charles City. Lisa and Theodore raised their three children on a farm near Charles City.

She had many jobs including waitressing, house cleaning, working as a lunch lady at Immaculate Conception School and finally as a baker at the Charles City Middle School where she worked until her retirement at the age of 73.

Lisa was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, crafts, spending time with her friends in German Club and loved flowers and dancing. Lisa spent as much time with her family as possible and loved visiting with her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids and relatives in Germany.

Living family members include her children: Wolfgang (Annette) Brummel of Peru, Darlene (Denny) Rasmus of Algona and Paul (Tammie) Brummel of Stanwood, Washington; eight grandchildren: Joshua (Jordyn) Brummel, Sara (Jimmy) Samdal, Chris (Crystal) Nixt, Andrew (Holly) Nixt, Dustin Rasmus (Olivia Wolf), Beau Brummel, Bailey Brummel and Nicole Krushensky; twelve great-grandchildren; brother, Hans Lindemann of Germany; special friend, Harold Begemann of Charles City; along with several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Theodore on February 22, 1995; one sister; and four brothers.
