Samuel Arthur Twining – February 16, 1893 – October 8, 1951

TWINING FUNERAL HELD WEDNESDAY AT CHARLES CITY

Charles City – Funeral services for Sam A. Twining, 58, were held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, the Rev. G. M. Otteson, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.

He died at a hospital here Monday following a heart attack. He had been in his usual health.

Mr. Twining was born in Kipton, Ohio, son of Fred and Carrie Hardy Twining. Prior to his marriage to Malinda Seibel in 1915, he taught a commercial course in the local school. Following his marriage he moved to Nashua and operated a general store for 4 years. He moved to Charles City in 1920 and started a photo finishing business now known as the Peerless Photo Finishing Company, which he later operated in partnership with his son, Dale. He was owner of the Twining Hatchery 5 years.

His marriage to Mary Jane Carbiener took place April 21, 1938. He was a member of the Episcopal Church, Elks, Odd Fellows, the Bishop’s committee of the church, United Commercial Travelers and Master Pho Finishers. He owned and operated his own airplane. He lived at 1101 South Main Street.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Carrie Twining, and a sister, Mrs. Ruth Whitcomb, both of Hiram, Ohio, one grandson, his wife, one son, and one step-daughter.

His 2nd wife was: Lenore Elsie Swinehart, the daughter of Joel L. Swinehart and Therese McLaren. He married her January 8, 1934 in Waterloo, Iowa (Iowa marriage record). She was born February 17, 1897 (Iowa birth Record)

His 3rd wife was: Mary Jane Carbiener, the daughter of William Carbiener and Vera Leaman
