FRED CARBIENER DIED RECENTLY

Fred Carbiener, former resident of this community, passed away at Waterloo Monday afternoon of complications following a lingering illness. He had been in ill health the past few months.

Mr. Carbiener was born August 8, 1875, the son of Michael & Margaret Carbiener, on a farm near Marble Rock, where he was engaged in farming until 1920, at which time he moved to Waterloo.

He married Anna Barth in Marble rock on February 9, 1889. She preceded him in death May 3, 1921 and in 1926 he married Mattie Truax, who died in March of 1950.

A member of the Assembly of God Church in Cedar Falls, he is survived by a son, Edward F., of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Pearl Carbiener, of Charles City; a sister, Mrs. Lizzie Mills, of Marble rock; five grandchildren & two great-grandchildren.

His parents, two sons, three sisters and five brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo, with Mrs. Richard Gulsvig, pastor of the Cedar Falls Assembly of God church, officiating. Burial will be in Marble Rock.
