Pearl Minnie Carbiener – February 15, 1909 – July 6, 2008

CHARLES CITY — Pearl M. Carbiener, 99, of 951 Court St., Charles City, died Sunday (July 6, 2008) at the 11th St. Chautauqua Home.

Pearl’s funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2008, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City with the Rev. Dennis Niezwaag officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.

Pearl Minnie Carbiener was born in Floyd County, Iowa, on Feb. 15, 1909, the daughter of Fred and Anna nee Barth Carbiener. She attended the public schools in Floyd County and in May 1929 graduated from the Charles City High School. Shortly thereafter she started working as a secretary in the law office of attorney A.R. Eggert and later for attorney Robert J. Eggert and continued working for him until her retirement in December 1982.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, belonged to one of the WELCA Circles, Altar Guild, Historical Society, CNB Heritage Club, Women’s Club and was a longtime member of the local Wa-tan-ye Club.

She is survived by one niece, Mrs. Jerry “Darlene” Westcott, of Cresco, Iowa; four nephews, Robert Carbiener, of Cedar Falls; Marvin Carbiener, of Broken Arrow, Okla.; Norman Carbiener, of Geneseo, Ill.; and Irvin Carbiener of Sparta, Tenn.; 17 great-nephews and great-nieces and several great-great-nephews and great-great-nieces.

Her parents and three brothers preceded her in death.
