Ann Maria (Rex) Sours – March 9, 1839 – November 6, 1914

MRS. SAMUEL SOURS DIES

After many months of suffering on November 6, Mrs. Samuel Sours passed away. The funeral was held from The Christian Church in Marble Rock, Sunday afternoon.

OBITUARY

Ann M Rex was born in Manchester Ohio on March 9, 1839, which place was her home till the fall of 1856, when she and her parents came to Marble Rock, Iowa, where she has made her home till her death, which occurred November 6, 1914.

Coming at the early date indicated she was one of the pioneer settlers and has seen Marble Rock and community develop. At the time of her arrival most of the houses were of the log cabin variety, and it was in this type of house that she and her parents made their home for some time.

On February 8, 1857, she was married to Samuel Sours who still survives. The following children were born to this union; Clara, who died in Infancy; J. C., deceased; Mrs. J. A. Ritter; S. R.; Phillip of Lansing, Kansas; Mrs. G. A. Paley of Des Moines; Lew H. of Hampton; Willie and Ray both deceased; and Roy J. of Floyd. All the children living were present at her service at the Christian Church at 2 o’clock, Sunday November 8th. Services were conducted by the pastor of the church.
