RITES HELD FOR LOUIS C. STAUDT
Louis Carl Staudt, 61, farmer and business man, passed away Friday, July 25th at eleven forty five P.M. at his home one mile east and two miles north of Marble Rock. Death was attributed to a heart attack.
Mr. Staudt was born March 28, 1897 on a farm near Marble Rock, the son of Nick and Margaret Ries Staudt. He received his education in the Roseville Catholic School. On September 27, 1928 he was united in marriage to Barbara Merfeld in St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Roseville. The new home was established on the farm which has since been their home.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, and American Legion of Marble Rock. He held the office of Secretary of the Farmer’s Elevator Company of Marble Rock for 15 years. He was a veteran of World War I. Mr. Staudt actively engaged in farming for most of his life; however, the last few years he was semi-retired but continued his work as seed corn salesman, which position he held for twelve years. He also continued his work as Floyd County Insurance agent which business he followed for over twenty years. He was also an agent for Alherton Insurance Company.
Surviving are his wife, two sons, Robert L, Marble Rock and Russell, also of Marble Rock, one daughter, Mrs. Rose Marie Cousins of Minneapolis, five grandchildren, three brothers, Stephen, Rockford; Lawrence and Mark both of Marble Rock. He was precede in death by his parents, a brother, Dr. A. J. Staudt and three grandchildren.
Solemn Requiem High Mass was read Tuesday at nine A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Roseville with Reverend B. W. Frommelt of Springbrook, Iowa, as Celebrant. Reverend Lattner of Rockford, Iowa was Deacon and Reverend Brunkan, Charles City, as Sub-Deacon. Burial was in the Roseville Cemetery.
