CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Concepcion "Connie" Salinas, 80, of Charles City, died Friday, July 10, 2015, at Cedar Health in Charles City.
A funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 13, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. The Rev. Gary Mayer will celebrate the Mass.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 12, at Hauser Funeral Home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral Mass at the church on Monday.

Concepcion "Connie" Salinas, 80, of Charles City, died Friday, July 10, 2015, at Cedar Health in Charles City with her loving husband, children and other family members by her side.
A funeral Mass for Concepcion Salinas will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2015, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. Reverend Gary Mayer will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City.
Visitation will be held at Hauser Funeral Home from 2 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, 2015. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral Mass at the church on Monday.
Concepcion Valdez Alvarado Salinas, the daughter of Catarino and Enriqueta Valdez Alvarado, was born March 8, 1935 in Piedras Negras, Coahuilla Mexico. She was a migrant worker throughout the United States, shared dual citizenship and became a U.S. citizen in 1951. Concepcion was united in marriage to Mecindo Salinas on June 16, 1955 in Albert Lea, Minnesota. In 1960, the couple settled in Iowa to raise their family of nine children.
Concepcion worked at Sherman Nursery in Charles City for several years before her retirement. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. Concepcion enjoyed playing Bingo, cooking for family, watching novelas (Mexican soap operas), listening to Mexican music and dancing to it as well. She loved spending time with her family and they will all miss her very much.
Living family members include her husband of 60 years, Mecindo of Charles City; nine children: Rogelio Salinas of Charles City, Rey Salinas of Charles City, Jesusita "Susie" (Todd) Smith of Charles City, Dalia Weber of Charles City, Rosalinda (Rick) Bormann of Ionia, Mecindo Salinas, Jr. of Charles City, Alma (Tim) Hackbart of Ankeny, Juan Salinas of Charles City and Santos (Brandy) Salinas of Charles City; 20 grandchildren: Delfina Stanfill, Joseph Salinas, Cameron Cronin, Nathan Salinas, Haley Oh, Trent Smith, Isaia Weber, Kari Jim, Zackaria Weber, Kory Bormann, Brock Bormann, Stephanie Pauley, Ashley Salinas, Eric Salinas, Tyler Salinas, Nicholas Salinas, Christina Hackbart, Samuel Hackbart, Noah Hackbart and Nyssa Salinas; 22 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Guadalupe (Eufemia) Alvarado, Juventino (Pilar) Alvarado and Jesus "Chi Chi" Alvarado; two sisters: Rosario Alvarado and Antonia Alvarado; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Catarino Alvarado and Enriqueta Valdez Alvarado; her step-mother, Maria Alvarado; grandparents: Valeriano (Concepcion) Valdez and Luis Alvarado; three brothers: Pedro Alvarado, Jose Alvarado and Raul Tovar; sister, Francisca "Panchita" Alvarado; three nieces: Marisol Alvarado, Juanita Alvarado and Enriqueta "Tete" Tovar; and two nephews: Henry Alvarado and Jose Alvarado, Jr.
