Mary (Melugin) Mills McAlpine – 1858 – March 13, 1915

The funeral of the late Mrs. Mary McAlpine, who died in Portland, Oregon, was held in the Christian church here Friday afternoon. The sermon was preached by Rev. Loren Inman and beautiful selections were sung by Mesdames Justin Haynes and Will Wilson and Messrs. Will Smith and Fred Lewis.

Mrs. McAlpine was born at Melugin’s Grove, Illinois, 56 years ago. She came to Iowa when quite young and lived in the vicinity of Marble Rock many years before going to North Dakota and Canada.

Her first husband was Mark Mills to whom one son, John Mills of this place was born.

After Mill’s death she became the wife of Mr. A. W. McAlpine, who is now called upon to part with a faithful wife and loving companion. To this union two sons were born.

Besides the family she leaves two sisters, Mrs. Robert Ramsey and Mrs. Sam Sours Jr. and three brothers, Jack, Will and Clark Melugin, all of this place, who with the members of her family were present at the funeral.
