Carl Conrad Friedrichs – January 10, 1898 – July 5, 1967

RITES HELD FOR CARL FRIEDRICHS

Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon in Faith Baptist church, Marble Rock, for Carl C. Friedrichs, 69, who passed away at the Floyd County Veterans Memorial Hospital, Charles City, on Wednesday morning July 5th.

Carl Conrad Friedrichs was born in Germany on January 10, 1898. At the age of 14 he came to the United States and settled in the Aredale-Bristow vicinity. He moved to the Marble Rock area in 1928 where he engaged in farming until his retirement in 1963.

Surviving are his wife, Ingeborg, of Marble Rock; two sons, Robert, of Mt. Vernon and Leroy, of Clear Lake; five daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Evelyn) Staudt, Mrs. Dallas (Carol) Hearn, and Mrs. Stephen (Mary) Koenigsfeld of Marble Rock and Mrs. John (Wilma) Fleming of Waterloo; and two brothers, William of Hampton and August, still in Germany. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren.

Rev. Sheral Gregory, pastor of the church, conducted the services and Reid’s Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Westside Cemetery at Marble Rock.

The Ingeborg, wife, mentioned in the above obit was Ingeborg (nee Johnson) Kinsedahl, widow of Bervin Kinsedahl. Ingeborg was his 2nd wife and married Carl Friedrichs in November 1962 at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Greene. Ingeborg died in 1985 and is buried with her husband in Rose Hill Cemetery, Greene, Butler, Iowa.

Carls first wife was Hattie J. Abben, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Abben. Hattie passed away January 6, 1960. Carl and Hattie were married June 2, 1926.
